There is always something disturbing about bugs crawling all over you and stabbing your skin with their tiny mouths when you’re trying to have fun outside! We all go through it all the time. Here are 6 great ways to keep them out of your face.
1). Start A Fire:
Starting a fire is probably one of the most effective ways that I’ve found to keep the bugs away. It’s not the heat that keeps them away, it’s the smoke from the fire. Bugs can’t stand smoke for some reason and will flee once it’s starts flowing, especially mosquitoes. So keep a fire lit, because it’s an excellent tactic to make sure at least the majority of the bugs are out of your space. If you need help starting a fire, here is one of our posts to get you going in the right direction! ->https://outdoorcampingadvice.com/how-to-start-a-fire-anywhere/ <-
2). Bug Repellent –
Now bug repellent may seem like an obvious way to keep bugs away, I can already see the rolling eyes. However, a lot of it depends on what kind of bug repellent you buy. If you get just ANY bug repellent, you might find out that it stinks horribly, and it doesn’t work efficiently or even at all sometimes! If you get the right bug repellent, they may still bother you, but not nearly as much. Here is our top choice -> OFF! Deep Woods Insect Repellent VIII Dry, 4 oz. (2 ct)
3). Bug Zappers:
Bug zappers are another great way to keep those nasty insects away. We like just sitting there watching them fly right to it! All you have to do is set one up, and watch them get off of you and onto the zapper. Here is a great one that we use all the time! ->Flowtron BK-40D Electronic Insect Killer, 1 Acre Coverage<-
4). Bug-repellent candles:
Using bug repelling candles is almost like starting a fire, except they have a pungent smell to them. However, all you need to do is light it, and in about 5 minutes or so the bugs will usually disappear completely! We use these especially on our porches, it almost always works. Just don’t put it in your tent unless you want to smell the nasty candle all the time! Here is our top pick for the best bug-repellent candle. -> Cutter 95783 Citro Guard Citronella Candle, Bucket, 17 oz, Pack of 1, Tan
5). Wear Long Clothing:
What we mean by wearing long clothing is to wear things like long-sleeves and pants. This is not only effective but they can’t bite you below your neck even if they tried! This is what we do when we’re going to be active outside or even just sitting on our porches when it isn’t too hot out. They can’t bite you if there isn’t any skin to bite! Just make sure and keep them away from your face!
6). Use A Fan:
This tip may seem silly and is not the most effective way. In our own experience, this is an easy and usually cost-effective way to make sure bugs don’t bother you as much. However, we only recommend this if you are in a tent or enclosed area that has only one or two openings. Just set one up on the osculation cycle and watch the bugs get blown away. You don’t always need an expensive fan, you can use a small personal fan if that’s all you need. However, if you do use a tiny fan, don’t expect the best results. Here is our pick for a lower cost, effective fan that you can bring anywhere! -> SkyGenius Battery Operated Mini Oscillating Table Fan, Portable Small Desk Swiveling Fan Rechargeable W/USB & 2PCS 18650 Batteries
In Conclusion:
It is always an annoyance when bugs are constantly flying in your face and crawling on you. Try one or more of these methods and you will be in good shape.
