Being a part of the B.S.A – (Boy Scouts Of America) was certainly a fun and intriguing experience in our lives. From camping in tents and large cabins in beautiful, and sometimes mystifying forests and landscapes. To learning all different sorts of skills like whitling and setting up a tent. All the way down to simple things like messing with the new guys when they showed up. It was all good fun, and it was a blast! So, without further or do, let’s get into the 2 rediculous camping games we learned in scouts!
Snipe Hunting:
Speaking of messing with the new guys…have you ever heard of a snipe? If not, don’t worry, we’ll explain. But you’re going to love this one!
It’s a creature that is interesting at first, and then absolutely terrifying! Once you think you’ve got it…BAM! It…has…you!
Ok, we’re just yanking your chain about the snipe. Real snipes are actually pretty interesting creatures. They are small wading birds that use their unmistakable long snout to catch their prey in the water. Their long beak or snout is what makes them so recognizable.
Although snipes are real animals, the snipe we’re talking about is not real. That’s the whole point of hunting for the snipe. You take one of the very gullible greenhorns and tell them to go look for a creature that doesn’t exist!
What Is A Snipe Hunt?
A snipe hunt is mostly an American tradition. Snipe hunting is most popular among younger crowds. To many, this tradition was made popular by the Boy Scouts Of America.
The whole purpose of the game is to trick one or more people into thinking that they’re hunting a creature in the woods. (A snipe) You tell them to go and wait for or look for the snipe, and then you LEAVE!
The entire time they’re looking for the snipe, you’re sitting back laughing your head off because they’re looking for nothing! Wondering how long it will take them to figure it out.
Now, this might seem absolutely ridiculous and somewhat cruel, but that’s the whole point of it. Plus, it helps the scouts bond and build character. It’s a game that everyone can look back on and laugh about for the rest of their lives.
Manhunt:
Manhunt really changes the game in terms of tag because it’s a LOT harder to win. Trust us when we say that it is NOT an easy game, but it’s a blast!
This is the kind of game that your whole group will fall in love with. There’s a lot to love about manhunt. When you play this game with your friends and family, you are sure to get on their bad side. But it’s all good fun!
What Is Manhunt?
Manhunt is a lot like the games “tag” or “you’re it”. Except it’s the exact opposite of them. In “tag” or “you’re it”, typically one person closes their eyes and everyone else hides until they’re found or they win the game.
In manhunt, one person or a small group of people hides and everyone else goes after them. So, instead of one person looking, you have everyone looking for one person!
